Seu Jorge and Almaz

Seu Jorge is a Brazilian singer (famous for his Portuguese cover of David Bowie songs featured in the Wes Anderson movie, “The Life Aquatic" and from his role as a street hood in the 2002 film, City of God!). Here you can listen to the track "Cirandar" from his 2010 album "Seu Jorge and Almaz". It is also worth listening to his great cover of Kraftwerk's The Model.

Mompox and the big umbrella

Mompox is a band from Argentina. Their debut album, Mompox & The Big Umbrella, contains 16 songs with more than 30 musicians playing all kinds of instruments. The sound is a mixture of American pop from the 50s, with a bit of psychedelic rock and experimental sounds.

The Strange Death of Liberal England

We are back after almost a year of silence with TSDOLE. The Strange Death of Liberal England is a band from Portsmouth, England. Their influences range from folk to indie rock with this diversity creating a large number of followers. The band takes its name from George Dangerfield's 1935 book of the same name, about the early 20th century decline of the Liberal Party.

The very sexuals

Started as a project between three or four other bands from The Nederlands, The Very Sexuals came together to produce an impressive and totally free album, which was released earlier this year. You can download their album "Post-Apocalyptic Love" and their single "Carla" from their website for free, but it is worthy to donate something and look out for album number two in 2010.

Who is that anyway??

Kim Ki O (turkish expression for "who is that anyway") is an electronic duo from Turkey. Kim Ki O like to experiment with synthesizers and drum machines. They don't use computers in their music but they do all the action live with enthusiasm and tension. Their music is self-recorded. Ο πολωνός Michal Jacaszek έφτιαξε το 2008 αυτόν τον βαρύ,πανεμορφο δίσκο. Η μουσική του μάλλον χαρακτηρίζεται ως μοντέρνα κλασσική. 'Ενχορδα, άρπα και άλλα κλασσικά οργανα συνοδεύονται από μία σοπράνο φωνή και χτίζονται πάνω σε καταπληκτικά, λεπτεπίλεπτα ηλεκτρονικά. Η μουσική παρά την εκτεταμένη χρήση ηλεκτονικών μέσων δε θυμίζει τη νεοκλασσική των σύγχρονων συναδέρφων του πχ του Max Richter αλλά συχνά, προσωπικά με παραπέμπει σε ακούσματα προκλασσικής. Περνάει από το μυαλό μου και ο Zbigniew Preisner. Κριτική δεν μπορώ να κάνω. Το μόνο που μπορώ να πω είναι ότι όταν πρωτοάκουσα τον δίσκο εντυπωσιάστηκα και όταν τον χιλιάκουσα τον αγάπησα.

Το Treny κυκλοφόρησε από τη νορβηγική Miasmah,μια δισκογραφική νέα, με πολυ ιδιαίτερο ύφος που φαίνεται στις μουσικές και εικαστικές επιλογές της. Το artwork των δίσκων είναι πάντα όμορφο κ λίγο τρομακτικό. νταααααααρκ.

Newton Faulkner

Born January 11, 1985 as Sam Newton Battenberg Faulkner.

Faulkner began playing guitar at the age of 11-12 with session guitarist Bob “crazy guy” Cranham and also attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where he spent 2 years gaining both diploma and the higher diploma award under the tutelage of Eric Roche.(read more @ last.fm)

This Immortal Coil

Όχι, δε πρόκειται για λάθος. Πρόκειται για ένα ξεχωριστό δίσκο ονόματι The Dark Age of Love με ερμηνείες των κομματιών των θρυλικών πλέον Coil των οποίων η μουσική πορεία σταμάτησε απότομα το 2004 με το θάνατο του Jhοnn Balance, ενός από τα δύο ιδρυτικά μέλη.

Μετά από τέσσερα περίπου χρόνια προετοιμασίας και δουλειάς το αποτέλεσμα κυκλοφόρησε στις 13/09 σε περιορισμένο αριθμό LP και CD. Το όνομα του project αποτελεί ξεκάθαρη αναφορά στη σουπερ - μπάντα που σχηματίστηκε από το πρόεδρο της 4AD κατά τη δεκαετία του '80 (This Mortal Coil).
Στο project συμμετέχουν μεταξύ άλλων οι: Matt Elliott, Yann Tiersen, Sylvain Chauveu και Bonnie Prince Billy(!).

Your Hand In Mine

Your Hand In Mine consists of two students from Thessaloniki, Greece. Manos Milonakis plays wurlitzer piano, melodica, toy piano, and does the programming, while George Papadopoulos plays some guitar shaped toy synth, mandolin, glockenspiel hits random objects in his rythmic kit. The project came out from members of the post-rock band Shortcat in late 2006, giving them the opportunity to express their love to acoustic instruments, french folk songs and street musicians. With a constantly growing collection of custom, toy instruments and machines, Your Hand In Mine act as live-looping based duet, willing to present a new-romantic, deeply personal sense of chamber music. Strongly impatient, they released their first recordings in 100 totally handmade cd copies in January 2007. The self titled ep, having references to modern west-european folk and experimentation, defines the band’s aesthetic and identity. In the summer of 2007 they composed original music for Mikio Naruse’s silent masterpiece Every Night Dreams which they presented live at Thessaloniki’s International Film Festival in November.
